After a decade of working for LensCrafters then Walmart, I started feeling like a slave. I couldn’t service patients the way I wanted to, the way my heart told me to, but to work as a machine getting customers in and out the door. The feeling that selling glasses was about just making money was killing me. And yes, of course it is a business, but for us Opticians, it goes a lot deeper than that.

It had always been on the back of my head to start my own optical shop, but I always made myself a million excuses on why I couldn’t. I even reached out to a professional and they told me my idea wouldn’t work out. This year, I decided to just go for it and I am figuring it out along the way. Yes it is hard, but it is so rewarding. My heart is so full.

So, if you are an Optician, and this has always been a dream of yours please remember, you are made to be an owner. Just start, you got this. We were trained for this. We are the experts, we love the customers and we care more than anyone could ever care about our customer’s optical needs.

Optic Matters LLC provides eyeglasses for the whole family and specializes on safety eyewear. See you around!
